Remember: Cydia is a legal application, no law to prevent the jailbreak and thus install Cydia. However, when jailbreak the iDevice, the user loses the Apple warranty.Install Cydia is legal, certainly, but use it to install pirated applications (and therefore without paying through the App Store) is illegal.
Note: Apple had patched several vulnerabilities and exploits needed to Jailbreak iOS 8.1.3, and alsopatch another vulnerabilities in iOS 8.2. (More details on Apple Support Link). DO NOT update to iOS 8.1.3 / iOS 8.2 if you have been looking forward to Jailbreak you iDevice. The methods below will not be able to jailbreak iOS 8.2 or iOS 8.1.3 !
Before you proceed, make sure to back up your personal data in safe using iCloud or iTunes, and to disable any Anti-virus programs or firewalls preventing from connecting to the internet.
Jailbreak iOS 8.1.2 on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch using TaiG on WINDOWS:
(also supporting iOS 8.1.1)Please follow the steps carefully:
- Download TaiG Jailbreak (1.2.0) and unzip the file on your Windows PC.
- Connect your iDevice to the computer using the USB cable.
- Disable Passcode from: Settings > Touch ID & Passcode.
- Turn off Find my iPhone from: Settings > iCloud > Find my iPhone.
- Right click on the TaiG.exe and choose “Run as Administrator”
- Once your device have been detected, confirm that it is showing the correct firmware version.
- Deselect the TaiG App Store (the one in Chinese), just below Cydia 1.1.16
- Click on Start (the green jailbreak button) to proceed, a status bar will appears
- If TaiG gets stuck at 30% or so then don't worry, wait for 20-30 minutes for the process to progress, it can take time if you’re using it in a virtual machine. If it does not respond after one hour:
> Make sure that you followed all the steps correctly (Disable the Passcode, Disable Find my iPhone and Run TaiG as Administrator).
> On your iDevice, go to Settings > General > Auto-Lock and set it to Never
> Try to restart the iDevice and the PC
> Or try the operation on another PC
Note that the jailbreak has been reported to be working in most cases, just be patient ;)
- When the jailbreak is completed, your device will reboot automatically, and the Cydia icon will appear on your home screen.
- Re-enable the Passcode and Find My iPhone feature after successfully jailbreaking your device.
Jailbreak iOS 8.1.2 on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch using the PP jailbreak on MAC: (OS X 10.7 or later)
Also supporting iOS 8.0Important note: Please proceed with caution, we’re still waiting for a confirmation that the jailbreak is safe!
- Download PP Jailbreak (1.0) on your MAC PC
- Connect your iDevice to the computer using the USB cable.
- Disable Passcode from: Settings > Touch ID & Passcode.
- Turn off Find my iPhone from: Settings > iCloud > Find my iPhone.
- Launch PP Jailbreak File
- Once your device have been detected, confirm that it is showing the correct firmware version.
- Deselect the check box at the bottom
- Click the central button to proceed
- Then click on the button to the right on the next page to proceed, when the jailbreak is completed, your device will reboot automatically, and the Cydia icon will appear on your home screen.
- Re-enable the Passcode and Find My iPhone feature after successfully jailbreaking your device.
